Eshwar Sabapathy is the Managing Partner of Eshwars, Advocates — House of Corporate and IPR Laws — and one of Chennai's most distinguished corporate lawyers. His practice spans mergers and acquisitions, arbitration, insolvency and bankruptcy, corporate governance, and contract law, and over a career of strategic depth and courtroom authority he has become a trusted counsel for businesses navigating complex transactions, regulatory scrutiny, and adversarial disputes. His expertise extends to matters before the National Company Law Tribunal, the Securities Appellate Tribunal, and SEBI, with particular command over tender processes, software licensing agreements, and cross-border commercial contracts. A recognised mediator, he is frequently called upon to resolve disputes among families in business — situations requiring as much judgment as legal knowledge. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, admitted to the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, serves on the Law Firm Committee of the International Trademark Association, and is a member of multiple committees of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Fluent in English and Tamil, and conversant in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam, he has been consistently ranked in Chambers and Partners Asia Pacific for Corporate/M&A in Chennai since 2013, and in the Chambers and Partners Global rankings in 2022. He is the author of Case Digest on Insider Trading and has contributed to the GTDT Practice Guide by Lexology on India M&A.
